KIDS CORNER
Christmas Edition
Below are several ideas of fun things you can do throughout the month of December to make lasting memories as a family. Have fun with it, keep it simple and don’t overload your free time! Downtime in this busy season is super important, don’t plan every moment.
DECEMBER ACTIVITIES FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY
The Christmas season is the perfect time to get your family doing some extra things together.
Bake cookies or a special treat and deliver to your neighbors. We would include an invite to our Christmas Eve service as well. We make our own PEPPERMINT BARK and it’s always a hit.
Drive around to look at Christmas lights. Our kids loved wearing their Christmas pajamas for this fun night out. We’d load up the van with popcorn, hot chocolate and Christmas tunes. It made things much more exciting and festive!
Serve together in your town. We would serve with our local food pantry, hand out goodie bags to the homeless or adopt a family and provide Christmas presents for them. Check with your local shelters or Women’s Resource Center, I’m sure they have plenty of opportunities for your family to do something together.
See a Christmas play or musical together. Make a night of it with a fun dinner out on the town.
Have a festive Christmas movie night at home. Complete with popcorn, candy and hot chocolate.
Over a few days, put out a challenging puzzle for your family to complete together.
Make decorating the Christmas tree an event. A special dinner, Christmas music and a fun dessert.
Decorate Sugar Cookies together. Make a contest out of it - Prettiest Cookie, Most Original, Most Colorful. Here’s a simple SUGAR COOKIE recipe that uses very few ingredients.
Spend an afternoon decorating Gingerbread Houses. You can purchase kits ready to go at most grocery stores and/or craft stores this time of year. Here’s one on Amazon if that’s easier for you. *pro tip - use hot glue to get the walls to stay together.
Have a Christmas Themed Scavenger Hunt. Here’s ONE you can use, or make up your own.

CHRISTMAS PLAYLIST
I like to play music 24/7 at our house. The music player sits in our kitchen and is almost always on.
We’ve put together a Mackadoo Christmas Playlist on Spotify. We hope you enjoy it!
OUR FAVORITE MOVIES
I’ll often just have these on throughout the day, especially the older movies that are slower.
I have yet to find a Christmas movie that does Jesus’ birth justice, so we just stick to the fun movies and read through the book of Luke throughout the month.
Luke has 24 Chapters, making it the perfect way to celebrate Advent with your family.
