Our Favorite Resources

Our lifeline has been people we’ve met, you tube videos and books to help us learn how to set up a farm/homestead. Get out there, ask questions and don’t be scared to learn new things.

Years back when we enjoyed visiting places that made us feel like homesteaders/farmers. My how they have grown!

Books we keep going back to again and again.

Fresh Eggs Daily

Raising happy, healthy chickens . . . naturally. A friend let me borrow this book and it’s been a huge help time and time again. It’s probably time to get my own copy!

Backyard Homesteading

A back-to-basics guide to self-sufficiency. This is one we keep going back to as we tackle new projects. It’s full of how-to guides for growing your own food, caring for common types of small livestock, beekeeping and canning foods. It’s a great resource for the beginner!

Holistic Goat Care

A comprehensive guide to raising healthy animals, preventing common ailments and troubleshooting problems. This book is geared more towards dairy goats but is still a good resource for most issues that have come up so far for us.

You Tube Channels that guide us, inspire us and make us look like newbies!

ARMS FAMILY HOMESTEAD

Homesteading and Homesteaders, what is it all about? Well for us it is small town people just trying to live the good life. We strive to make the best decisions for our family’s health and happiness. We are very much into growing and producing our own food. We make every attempt to provide what we can for ourselves.

VENISON FOR DINNER

We live on a 34 acre homestead and get a kick out of things like raising our own meat, dairy and vegetables. There’s plenty of failures, you’ll be sure to see those here too. We’re a homeschooling family who believes life is the best teacher but we do hit the books in winter.
